The North Dakota Women's History Collection consists of two audio tapes containing interviews by John B. Davenport of five women political leaders in North Dakota. The first audio tape contains interviews of Donna Chalimonczyk, Aloha Eagles, Nita Fox, Ellie Kilander, Anita Wasik. The interviews, conducted on October 2, 1975 in Fargo, ND, primarily concern the struggle for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment in North Dakota from 1972 to 1975. The interviews also contain information about abortion rights, feminism, the North Dakota Women's Coalition, and the North Dakota Chapter of the National Organization for Women. Also included are lists of questions posed to the interviewees. The second audio tape contains an interview of ND State Representative Brynhild Haugland, conducted on December 2, 1975. Haugland had been active in ND politics since 1936. A transcript of the Haugland interview is also included.

Aloha Pearl Brown was born on November 8, 1916, in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up in Crosby, Minnesota, and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School. She attended nursing school in Duluth for one year before graduating from Hibbing (Minnesota) Junior College. She also attended the University of Minnesota for one year. She married Donald E.
